Soft Shoulder: Directions for Use
- Place cloth wrap and gel pack(s) in freezer.
- Allow unit a minimum of two hours in freezer.
- Remove shoulder wrap and one insert from the freezer.
- Remove the long strap from the product.
- If not already installed, place the gel pack inside the wrap by detaching the velcro fasteners and sliding the gel pack in between the two pieces of material.
- Place the wrap on the shoulder with the gel insert opening next to the patient's neck.
- The attached strap should be guided under the arm and attached back to the "fuzzy" material to apply soft compression to the rotator cuff region.
- Attach one end of the long strap to the fuzzy material on the posterior (back) aspect of the wrap.
- Guide the strap across the patient's back. Run the strap under the arm of the non-operative shoulder.
- Attach the velcro hook fastener on the anterior (front) aspect of the wrap.
- Apply only soft compression.
- If icing against the skin, remove after 20 minutes, or as directed by your medical practitioner.
- If icing over a post-operative dressing, leave wrap on for two hours, or as directed by your medical practitioner.
- If continuous icing is desired, have one gel-pack in the freezer and one gel pack inside the wrap on your shoulder.
- Rotate inserts, one on, and one in the freezer, every two hours, or as directed by your medical practitioner.
